Admiral Manuel Blanco Encalada Fire Company Receives New Uniforms on its 160th Anniversary
The donation from Fundación CSAV honors the legacy and service of one of the oldest fire departments in the country.

The Naval Maritime Museum hosted the ceremony for the 160th anniversary of the “Bomba Almirante Manuel Blanco Encalada.” During the event, Fundación CSAV presented 75 new uniforms to the company members, recognizing their extensive history of protecting the city of Valparaíso.
Officially founded on January 9, 1865, as the Fourth Fire Company of Valparaíso, the institution adopted its current name in 1872 in honor of the former president and Admiral of the Navy, Manuel Blanco Encalada, for his service to the nation.
During the ceremony, the volunteers received and displayed their new uniforms, marking a significant milestone for the company. The “Bomba Manuel Blanco Encalada” thus reaffirms its commitment to Valparaíso, highlighting a history defined by dedication and bravery.
This contribution allows the institution to preserve its traditions and strengthen its identity of service. The delivery of the uniforms symbolizes recognition of the effort and dedication of those who make up this historic company, one of the oldest in Chile.
María Elena Palma, Director of Fundación CSAV, emphasized: “The delivery of these uniforms, along with contributions from other institutions, represents recognition and gratitude for the Company’s work. Their legacy and experience contribute to improving the quality of service in Valparaíso and strengthening the safety of its residents.”
