San Antonio Teaching Community Participates in Innovative Psychoeducational Session

Members of various local educational institutions attended a gathering addressing modern teaching challenges and educator well-being.

San Antonio, January 2026 – Within the framework of the 2025 Motivational Talk Series organized by the CSAV Foundation, more than 400 members of the educational community from various schools in San Antonio were invited to a talk designed to reflect on the conclusion of the academic cycle. The event placed a special emphasis on the professional and family well-being of teachers, recognizing their fundamental work in the area.

For Yolanda Videla, Community Relations Manager of the CSAV Foundation, this initiative responds to the need to support teachers during periods of high emotional load: “We know that the end of the school year is a highly demanding period. Therefore, we sought to offer an instance that broke away from the conventional practices, balancing deep analysis with emotional well-being. Our goal was to provide them with a moment of relaxation where they could meditate on their work, but also enjoy themselves and recharge.”

The activity featured Heinz Huaquil, a psychologist specialized in neurodivergence, who presented the talk “The True Magic of Teaching in Difficult Times.” The presentation utilized an innovative format by integrating Diego Camin, a renowned magician from the Valparaíso Region; together, they presented a proposal that combined the psychological challenges of education with magic acts that served to illustrate key concepts in a didactic and accessible manner.

During the session, the complexities of teaching in today’s classroom were analyzed, addressing critical issues such as increasing student distraction in the digital age, the challenges of neurodivergent education, and the importance of school coexistence, among other topics. Along these lines, the director of the Liceo Juan Dante Parraguez, Irene Álvarez, emphasized: “We carry many burdens—emotional and bureaucratic—that demand a lot from us. This is a call to take care of ourselves, because we are also people who need to be well in order to dedicate ourselves to a profession as we should, with vocation.”

The magic segments interspersed throughout were not merely recreational but sought to symbolically represent the academic challenges that teachers face daily, facilitating the understanding of the points presented by Huaquil.

The activity included participation from Liceo Juan Dante Parraguez, the Instituto Comercial Marítimo Pacífico Sur (INCO), and the Escuela Padre André Coindre, attended by directors, teachers, educational technicians, and other administrative staff from the participating establishments.

In this regard, the Municipal Head of Technical Education for San Antonio, Sergio Hernández Rojas, valued the impact of the session in the area: “I want to value the work that the Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores Foundation has been developing in San Antonio, starting with improving the quality of life for those in the schools. We see a tremendous commitment from the Foundation to develop these infrastructure capabilities, which goes hand in hand with personal development.”

Meanwhile, the director of INCO, Sebastián Romo, expressed his gratitude for the constant link with the organization: “We are very grateful for all the resources the CSAV Foundation incorporates into our establishment, from infrastructure repairs to talks for our students. This is yet another of the many activities we have been able to work on with them throughout the year.”

Finally, Fernanda González, a psychologist at Escuela Padre André Coindre, highlighted the impact of focusing on those who educate: “The teacher, the assistant, and those who manage the school must be emotionally well; their mental health is key to generating the best learning for our children and achieving better results in the future.”
